Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.
Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. Very solid place with diverse menu. Yes, there is a strong Greek offering and it is tasty. I still favor Mykonos or Hellas in Tarpon springs for authentic Greek food. (that is, if my mom isn't cooking- she is the best) This place gives us solid food, service and is owned by a very nice lady that strives to please. The avgolemono soup is excellent. I had a new offering since I had been there last, a greek combination platter of moussaka, pastitsio, dolmades and spanakopita with roast potatoes. My wife had a chicken souvlaki sandwich which was generous and tasty, served with a small greek salad and roast potatoes. They have regular food too so the non-Greek food eaters will be satisfied. Prices are fair too. The only thing I really don't like is their Greek dressing. If that was top shelf like Hellas, I would rate this five stars. Give Marathon a try and get there on the early side, it gets busy!

Marathon grille has been here forever!!! And for good reason. They have consistently good food at reasonable prices. The restaurant is always clean and well maintained. The staff is always nice and courteous. Our long standing favorites include, the hummus appetizer, the Marathon salad and Shrimp Kafetes (spelling?). If you like hummus and roasted veggies, omg yummm! The Marathon salad has tons a sliced grilled chicken, feta, BACON and some roasted veggies all with a Greek style Dressing. Quite yummy for a salad and a good size portion for the price. Not much more I can say about this place other than it is a hidden neighborhood gem & I hope they continue for another 20 years!

This a nice family run restaurant, they are all very friendly and accommodating to special requests. The overall flavor of the menu is Greek but they have many Americanized dishes for those who are wary of trying something new. I have had many items off of their menu and haven't ever had one that I didn't enjoy!

Oh, Marathon Grille, how do I love thee --- By all means, if you haven't been to this place you need to check it out! Fabulous fresh Greek food. There's always room for baklava so even if you're stuffed, get some anyway. You'll be glad you did. The Moussaka and Pastitsio were delectable. They have carry out if you need to take a meal home. Salads are wonderful. One Greek salad was enough for two meals for me.

This restaurant is a few miles from where I live and I decided to stop by recently for an early supper. This place is tucked along the side of a plaza and is easy to miss. The interior is family restaurant style, and the service was prompt and attentive as you'll expect and often find in a good family restaurant. I had the Marathon chickenburger, which was chicken breast with spinach, feta cheese, roasted red peppers, onions, herbs/spices, tomato and oregano on a kaiser roll. I had the cottage fries for the side. The sandwich was ok, but nothing to get excited about. My 3 guests had the lemon chicken, open face turkey sandwich and and black bean & rice soup, and I had the chance to taste all of them and they had good flavor and were seasoned well. This was my first time visiting Marathon as it was a recommendation from a friend. They served a cold loaf of bread as soon as I was seated, which they could have kept for themselves (our st least heated it up). I started with a small Greek salad before my entree. There were no surprises here with this. I scraped off the potato salad after a taste. It wasn't bad, just not my thing. The greens were fresh and it was dressed with feta, red onion, cucumber, tomato and a peppercini. For dinner, I ordered the Greek combo plate with one dolma (stuffed grape leaf), spinach pie, Greek potatoes, Pastitsio (a layered meat and pasta Greek pie topped with Bechamel sauce) and Moussaka (a casserole made by layering eggplant with a spiced meat filling then topping it off with a creamy bechamel sauce). My favorites were the dolma (served warm with a lemon sauce on it), spinach pie (in a flaky phyllo dough) and the moussaka. I tasted the potatoes and the Pastitsio but didn't really care that much for them. Overall, the dinner was good and I got a lot of food for the cost.

Generally ok, but nothing outstanding. The Good: Fast and friendly service, clean restaurant. They also serve breakfast until 2:00. Relatively cheap prices. The Bad: They forgot to put beets in my Greek Village salad. The beets were the whole reason I ordered it. The waitress quickly went back and yelled at the kitchen guys, and brought me a bowl of beets. Canned, of course. Oh well, I guess I didn't expect fresh beets. They probably should specifically say on the menu that this salad does not have lettuce. It doesn't list lettuce as an ingredient, but then aqain, a lot of times the lettuce is not listed. It was a good salad of tomatoes, olives, feta, cucumbers, and beets. It was a bit of a surprise to not have lettuce though. Overall: It's a diner with diner food. It's ok but I won't rush back. I want to try their breakfast next time.

As a reminder, I lived in Greece for six years. I know Greek food. I never order a half chicken...unless it's made Greek style. I was shopping in this strip mall when I saw Marathon Grill. I check out the menu and decided to go for it. I ordered Avgolemono (egg lemon soup in a chicken base) and Greek Chicken. I was craving the spices. The soup was perfect with the orzo and small chicken bites in a great lemon egg mixture. The chicken had that wonderful oregano, olive oil, lemon blend with a hint of garlic and, in this case, a dash of rosemary. The potatoes were typically Greek with about the same spices as the chicken.and roasted to a slight gold color. I'm home now ready for a siesta after fully satisfying my cravings. I will return to try something else on the menu but for now, I can say that my meal was as good as any I've had on the sponge docks of Tarpon Springs. Opa!

Great breakfast. Excellent chicken tenders for the kid. Pancakes were excellent. Will definitely be back.

Jane the waitress treated us like family and the owner welcomed the diners at the door. I wish that I could eat their lemon chicken soup every day. It is so lemony and the chicken breast pieces were not overdone. The pita bread on the Gyros was thick and fresh. A lot of locals go there for the Sunday Brunch. We left feeling like we had just been pampered by a loving Grandma, mostly thanks to our waitress, Jane.

Varied menu items, overall decent selection and affordable prices. I ordered the hummus appetizer, which was a pita, sliced into triangles, topped with roasted peppers, onions and mushrooms and a scoop of hummus to spread. Very tasty. I also ordered the roasted veggie wrap, which had the perfect amount of feta cheese. The atmosphere is more like a diner and it definitely attracts the seniors!

Food & service are always good. They go out of there way to make each customer happy. I love their eggplant Parmesan. Their hummus with fire roasted veggies is awesome & my husband loves their chicken kefta. The house made desserts are very good & their wine prices are so reasonable. The owner Stan is an extremely gracious host. Highly recommended.

I have eaten at this restaurant many times. The food is reliably good and the prices are affordable. After my latest experience though, I don't think I will ever go back. I ordered the garlic steak which the menu says is sauteed in olive oil, butter and garlic. The steak came out drenched in a thick yellow sauce. I have a dangerous wheat allergy so I asked the waitress if the sauce was thickened with flour. The cook confirmed it was and the waitress took the steak back. She apologized several times for the mistake and I apologized several times for not announcing my allergy beforehand and asking ahead of time. The waitress made the right choice and had a new steak made, with new sides on a clean plate. But it was after my new steak arrived that my husband and I could hear the owner yelling at the waitress for bringing me a new steak. We heard him say, "Next time I charge you. Don't ever do that again." He ranted for a good 15 minutes loudly to both the waitress and the cook. I took it that he wanted to re-use the contaminated steak which could have cost him his entire business. If that was a peanut allergy, he could have killed someone right there in his restaurant. The waitress did the right thing and we made sure to tip her accordingly for her troubles.

Their chicken lemon soup is my fav in all the TB area. I go there regularly and everything I have tried is very good. I have even tried their breakfast and it is good. The lunch crowd is heavy with working ppl from nearby but after hours is much better.

I like Marathon Grill! The owners are very nice. They have a nice staff. I always get their Pastitsio (I don't know if I spelled that right) or Moussaka. Always yummy. For an appetizer try the Spinach Triangles. The other bonus about this place is that it is very clean! Most Greek diners have a dingy dirty hole in the wall feel. Not Marathon Grill! This place is quaint, clean & nice!
